Why do you need a pool alarm?

Why is it needed?
There is a general misconception about why and who needs such an alarm system. Many people mistakenly believe that it is only necessary for families with small children. This is wrong. Even if you don't have children but have a pool, you should consider purchasing an alarm for it because it will help protect guests or children who may accidentally wander into your yard.

Types of alarms for swimming pools
Pool alarms come in many different types. But despite this, they have the same goal — to protect small children from the pool. If children are dangerously close to the pool, the alarm will immediately alert adults. Therefore, this device is not just an accessory, but also a life-saving device.

First you need to decide on the type. Today, the following types of alarms are available on the pool accessories market:

  • underwater;
  • surface;
  • perimeter alarm.

The third type is by far the most popular. The alarm is installed along the perimeter of the fence that encloses your pool. The alarm will sound depending on the model you choose. Basically, it sounds an alarm when someone passes through the gate undetected or the fence doors are accidentally left open. In principle, such systems are the most effective. With proper installation and use of such an alarm, your child will never get into the pool without your permission.

Unfortunately, not everyone can use this type of alarm. They are only suitable for those who have a fence around the perimeter of the pool. If there is no fence, there are other types. The overwater alarm goes off when someone comes too close to the pool. This type of alarm has its advantages because it can alert you before your child gets into the water as soon as he gets close to it.

The only problem is false alarms. If your pool is not closed, then the wind may bring debris to it or an animal may come close. In this case, the signal will also work. False alarms can be avoided by using underwater alarm systems.

They are essentially the same as above-water devices, but instead of detecting movement around the perimeter of the pool, they detect movement within. This means you will be notified when something enters the water. Therefore, if your child falls into the pool, the alarm will automatically sound.
