ACS. Definition. Development. Demand.

Suffice it to say that the two most common types of systems today are access by identifiers (keys) — a TM key (touch memory), a card or a key fob, an analogue of a card. Although there are some differences in card systems due to the use of different standards and protocols, outwardly it is the same contact or contactless reader and actuator — lock, turnstile or gateway.

And the second most common type of systems today are systems that use biometric personal data — facial geometry, fingerprint, retina, voice identification, etc. Today, the most used system is fingerprint access control.

For whom?
Access control systems are used directly in enterprises where this access control is necessary.
Correctly selected and installed ACS helps solve a number of important problems, such as the safety of employees and visitors, protection of material assets, rational personnel management, so today many managers of enterprises and government agencies have recognized the need to install and operate ACS.

Initially, the use of these systems was found in the banking sector, and only then these systems became widespread in other industries. Today, access control systems are installed both at small and medium-sized businesses (supermarkets, shopping malls, hotels, private sector) and at government and civil facilities (airports, train stations, border areas).

Among other things, the implementation of access control systems creates an additional technological and modern image for the company.

Savings.
If ACS were originally intended for access control, then modern systems are already software and hardware complexes that carry on board not only the functions of their main purpose, but also elements of security systems, time and attendance systems, and systems for finding the right person in a large enterprise. Hence the savings — there is no need to hire a full-time security guard, HR inspector, etc. Integration of ACS and 1C accounting allows you to calculate an employee’s salary based on the actual time worked. In companies where the cost of all business processes is calculated, management is convinced of the fact that the benefits of implementing modern access control systems outweigh the cost of implementation.

How much does it cost?
It is very difficult to talk about the cost of installation, since the objects are always different and the installation methods are accordingly different. It depends on the customer’s budget and the specific object. In general, the cost of such systems can vary from 2–3 thousand rubles and more (depending on the system configuration).

Supply and demand.
Today, trading companies and installers offer a great variety of different access control systems for any task and budget. Another thing is conservatism. If for security and fire alarm systems, video surveillance systems, some technological breakthroughs quite often occur, then the area of access control systems is even more conservative, and once installed, a system can work for years and not require replacement.
Currently, access control systems for train stations, subways, airports, civil facilities, etc. are in very active demand.
Another area that is now becoming relevant is the use of access control systems in educational institutions, where parents, for example, can know when their child came to school and when he left it.

Competition.
It is difficult to talk about competition, because, as a rule, companies offering this equipment have already decided on their price list and offer 2–3 systems that are precisely capable of fully satisfying all desires customer.
